Youth Ministry Department

The Youth Ministry Department works to equip church youth ministries to strategically reach teenagers for Christ and to help them grow and mature in their faith.

Leadership Development

Pursuit Leadership Academy
Pursuit is a 2 nights, 3 day, event that provides both classroom and “hands on” learning experiences for student leaders that have finished grades 9-11.

Bible Drill
The annual Bible Drills are fun, exciting ways to help youth learn key Bible verses and articulate their spiritual beliefs. Bible Drillers compete on the church, associational and state levels. The Youth Ministry Department has all the training and materials you need to participate!

Youth Speakers Tournament
The annual youth speaker’s tournament helps youth learn to and articulate their spiritual beliefs. Speakers compete on the church, associational and state levels. The Youth Ministry Department has all the training and materials you need to participate!

True Love Waits
True Love Waits is an international campaign designed to challenge students to remain sexually abstinent until marriage. Millions of students have pledged: "Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my future mate, and my future children to be sexually abstinent from this day until the day I enter a biblical marriage relationship."

Southeast Conclave
A worship and training event for youth ministers and their ministry leadership Team.

4:GO
This event for guys only (hence 4:GO) is along side the WMU’s Exalt Conference. Its purpose is to assistant teen guys in their journey to becoming men of God.

Evangelism

Campus Clubs
FiSH is a simple, effective four-week outreach strategy designed especially for school-based clubs. First Priority is another example of a school-based club.

The Net
This is an easy way for students to learn to tell their story of knowing Christ. No certification is required and it is very economical. Students learn eight scriptures to share within their own story. This process is testimony based and gospel driven.

Networking

Iron Sharpening Iron Tour
Each spring the Iron Sharpening Iron Tour travels the state to provide a time for youth ministers to gather for the purpose of networking, vision casting and prayer.

Spring Youth Ministers Retreat
In May for three days, sometime between Mothers day and Memorial Day, youth ministers from across the state gather for some fresh ideas, fun, and fellowship. It is a place where everyone shares their joys and struggles and for a time of teaching and renewal.

Events

Throughout the year, the Youth Ministry Department supports events geared toward helping equip and empower youth for evangelism. The department also provides training in basic youth ministry, youth culture, evangelism training and other opportunities for youth leaders and parents who want to support their youth.
