Missions Growth Team Office

What is God doing in Kentucky and around the world? The Missions Growth Team is your link to missions service! We connect Kentucky Baptists to state, national and international missions efforts by maintaining strong, healthy relationships with the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board.

In addition to giving leadership and direction to the department directors, associates and support staff of each department, the Missions Growth Team office administers chaplaincy, Cooperative Ministries, Kentucky Equestrian Ministries, Seminary Extension and other efforts.

Chaplaincy
The Missions Growth Team relates to the Chaplaincy Division of the North American Mission Board, which assists in recruiting, training and endorsing chaplains who provide ministry to people and their families in healthcare settings, military service, institutions, businesses, industries and other special settings. David Sandifer, our chaplaincy consultant, is working to build relationships with chaplains across the state.

Cooperative Ministries
Cooperative Ministries is a conscious and intentional effort to help black and white Baptists in Kentucky become acquainted with each other, relate to each other purposefully and work together to share their faith. Dr. Lincoln Bingham leads our Cooperative Ministries effort.

Equestrian Ministries International
The Missions Growth Team office provides leadership to Equestrian Ministries International. EMI is an organization of believers in Christ who share an interest in horses and wish to be involved in a ministry utilizing horses. EMI is currently represented in 28 states and three countries. For details, visit the EMI Web site.

Seminary Extension
A Seminary Extension center is a locally sponsored program offering theological education and ministry training to persons in ministry within the context of their own community. Ministers and lay people can further their education through several extension centers in Kentucky.

Associational Missionary Assistance Program (AMAP)
The Missions Growth Team Office administers AMAP, which is a program that provides equity and fairness to state missionary personnel whose salaries are subsidized by the Kentucky Baptist Convention. This program assists associations in supporting the employment of a Director of Missions. A high percentage of funding comes from the Kentucky Woman's Missionary Union through the Eliza Broadus State Missions Offering.

Church Building Loans and Grants
Church loan and grant applications are processed through the Missions Growth Team office. As funds are available, a cooperating, contributing Kentucky Baptist church can receive a grant of up to $1,000 to assist with building projects. Small loans are available to our churches for remodeling, maintenance, etc. The process requires an application, recommendations from the Associational and State Directors of Missions, and approval by the Missions Growth Team Leader. Applications for building grants and loans may be obtained through the Missions Growth Team office.
