What is PURSUIT?
PURSUIT is a 3-day, 2-night event that will provide your students with both classroom and hands-on learning experiences - activities that will help them explore who God has made them to be while giving them a tangible way to put it into practice.

Your students will be immersed in a weekend that will help them:
  • DEEPEN spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible study, Scripture memory)
  • DISCOVER spiritual gifts and personality styles
  • EXPLORE personal passions
  • ENHANCE decision-making skills
  • BUILD on foundations of morality and integrity
  • UNDERSTAND the functions of the church (worship, education, etc.)
  • LEARN about Baptist Distinctives (missions support, Cooperative Program, etc.)

Plan for Pursuit

PURSUIT PRE-EXPERIENCE
Each student must come prepared:
1) with an element they can bring to contribute to the corporate worship experiences
2) having read and studied I, II, & III John, and
3) having read the required reading piece, ready to discuss. (required reading will be sent upon registration).

PURSUIT EXPERIENCE
  • Missions/Evangelism Experiences (random acts of kindness, intentional witnessing, experiences at ministries such as clothes closets, soup kitchens, or other KY Changers-type experiences.)
  • Discipleship Element (leadership profile, daily quiet time, prayer experiences)
  • Fellowship (each small group trained to plan & lead fellowship activities)
  • Worship (corporate, individual, experiential; small groups will plan/lead elements of worship)
  • Baptist Distinctives (basic beliefs, cooperative program, relationships between Baptist organizations like NAMB, KBC, churches, associations, etc.)

PURSUIT CONTINUES
Follow-up meetings will be in the fall at FOCUS (fall collegiate event) and at one of the spring Creative Ministries Festivals. Students and leaders will meet for accountability and evaluation of skills learned at PURSUIT as well as for Bible study and interaction with campus students and leaders.

PURSUIT LEARNING LAB
Hands-on practice and accountability are the key factors to help your students reach and maintain their goals from PURSUIT... making your church the LAB! The role of the adult sponsor will be to follow up with the students and to serve as a mentor in the process of applying the skills the students have learned. How does PURSUIT apply to their youth group? Missions? Evangelism? At their church? Help them discover their role as leaders in their environment.
